Itinerary description

I started this path following the track of the user T_Kon but then I made some changes as I will explain here.

The path is very beautiful on sunny days but it’s also very difficult to follow in 2 points at least.

The first one is after the peak S3. You literally have to walk through the trees and it’s not easy at all. I was about to quit and go back. Then I finally found a way and went through.

The second bit was immediately after Profiti Ilia’s, on my way to the other Aghios. It was again a pain to follow the track: I just found my way but I still had to walk trough and sometimes step up on trees, not really enjoyable. Most of the downhill from Profit ilia’s was like this.

The uphill to Aghios Simonis was easier in comparison as the trees thinned out.

Finally, also the final bit to Agios Galatis (which is not marked on the track even though I passed by it) was a bit hard but there were only bushes, not trees, so nothing in comparison with the previous bits I mentioned.

Since I spent a good amount of time finding my way, after Aghios Galatis I decided to quit the track as I did not know whether the remaining part of the route would be similar to what I did tree-wise. If so, I would not have enough time as I did this in November end and I did not want to get lost among the trees in the dark.

I therefore decided to leave the route after Aghios Galatis. From there I switched off wikiloc, IItook the paved road and then I used google maps to come back to Apollonia. It took me one hour to go back and I did walk on one of the Sifnos marked trails.

If you plan to go for this trek, my biggest advice would be: ensure you have long trousers and sleeves and put into account additional time to find the route. Keep in mind you are embarking onto something adventurous. And avoid doing it in the summer or when it’s really hot
