Hi..are the trails legal? What about bigger Vehicles? Thx

  • satolas Sep 26, 2021

    Hello :-)
I started the record a bit after the trail so the start is on Eigentalstrasse look at like 0,8km this is the start point.

I was surprised because on the first 1km there is no sign so looks legal. the trail is kind of narrow (branches on the sides).

I’ll go back there sometime because there is a moment where is not possible to continue driving the trail because of natural fallen trees on the road that can only be cut. Not dragged out with winch or so. So I had to go backwards in reverse.

After going back on Eigentalstrasse some roads are of course legal and most of the trails are like always in Switzerland with a permit/bewiligung.
But in general there were a bunch of houses on the trails so I don’t see a real problem driving them you could know anyone there.

6,26km to 7,45km could be used a lot by bikes if it is a nice day so you can go straight at 6,26km instead of turning right to avoid that part.

8,77km to 9,19km it is also really cool little trail (look the pictures) around 9km there is a way to continue the trail but there were a very narrow pass.

From 9,96km to 10,89km gps lost a bit of precision. You can imagine I didn’t drive into the houses :-D

    In general :
Waypoints are cool parts of the track :-)
I had a long wheel based old w463.
Bigger trucks shouldn’t be a problem.
Apart of that pass at 9km and the first 1km but you can go and always go back is not a problem.

And the end also legal on the Gempenturmstrasse is nice because you arrive to the highest point there.
And you can drink a beer looking at the nice sunset.

Hope this helps having an overview of the trail :-)

Unfortunately driving in the woods is illegal in almost every part of Switzerland. No sign needed! Getting cought on a track with sign is even cheaper (fine) than without (penalty)! So called forest laws. 😢

Honestly for most of the track I don’t see really how you would get caught since there is houses so other cars going there as well.

I remember one time me asking someone in Switzerland:
“is there nice off-road tracks in Switzerland ?”
the person answered to me being a bit sorry :
“in Switzerland off-road is for the Cows” ahah

But I always find stuff to do anyways and I’m happy to share it.
    Cheers :-)

    Thx man 🙂

Hello. Is it large enought for a Van to go there.
    Thank you.

  • satolas Jan 16, 2023

Hello Bruno, from what I remember since it’s been a while I don’t go there.

For size/wheels I think it is okay with a Van, maybe you can skip the little part at 8,8km where I go to the forest and come back (it’s kind of a dead end anyways).
And start just after the start around 0,8km

    Have a nice ride :)
