Asphalt to Rakops where we loaded diesel up to our mouths.
From Rakops, the first part of the track, horrible. some very deep ruts full of dustyholes that when you fell into the dust surrounded you and didn't let you see absolutely anything. Lots of new routes, trying to avoid the main one, avoiding bushes and trees that in the end were worse than the main route.
After this first section the track becomes much more bearable until it reaches Matswere Gate where clay floors with slides are more common. Before reaching Decepción Valley the kalahari sand begins but this year it is in better conditions although the straight section of the Decepción combines sand with co-arrugations.
