Itinerary description

This hard and steep trail takes you through the quiet but harsh Belgian Ardennes, it consists of 60% on and 40% offroad. It takes you from Vresse-sur-Semois to Sugny over the belgo/french border and ends close to Sedan. On this trail the highlights are mainly the off-roading it self, steep climbs, nice vista points but also the interesting ruins of an old castle (Château de la Roche) and part of the Maginot line, you will be able to see 2 "Maison Fortifié" bunkers camouflaged as farmhouses.

It took me 3h to drive without without stops. The offroad parts of the trail are very difficult, right after the start at about km 3 you will need to climb a very steep and long mountain, it is quite narrow and the road consists of slate rock some loos some big boulders, when I was driving it it was very washed out which made it more challenging, low range and 4x4 needed. Once you reach the top, I was expecting to see an abandoned holiday resort but it seems like they are renovating the place.
Another very difficult part was the forest immediately after the belgo/french border. I drove this trail during autumn and it hadn't rained for a week. I encountered very deep mudholes which I couldn't circumnavigate, at one point I was stuck and I had to winch my self out. Right after this there are very high humps on which I bottomed out and had to winch again. I was also not able to continue on this part so I drove back to the main road, though it was very fun.
I drove it with My Jeep Wrangler JKU on 35" tires and 3.5" suspension lift and I often bottomed out.

As a disclaimer: not all the offroad parts are 100% legal to drive, so only on own risk.
