Shelter Pločno

Čvrsnica, with its highest peak Pločno – 2228 metres above sea level, is the highest mountain in the Central Dinarides. Čvrsnica massif, which has two mountain ridges, four plateaus and five other peaks exceeding 2000 metres above sea level, is protected as part of Blidinje Nature Park, and its special natural phenomenon – the arch Hajdučka vrata, has been protected as a nature monument since 1985. A mountain that takes away one’s breath, wild and powerful, of a surreal beauty, attracts a large number of excursionists and mountaineers during all seasons of the year, and, take our word for it, it leaves an impression on every visitor.

Blidinje lake

The legendary Vran Mountain and the stunning Čvrsnica have nurtured in their bosom, at a height of 1200 m above sea level, the fertile valley Polja, with Blidinje Lake nestled in it, as a beautiful blue eye in the head of these mountain beauties. This lake is the largest natural lake in Bosnia and Herzegovina and it constitutes the geomorphologic nature monument that the park was named after. The area of the lake varies from 2.5 to 6 km², with a relatively small depth, from one to maximum four metres. The lake itself lies between Vran and Čvrsnica mountains, at the bottom of Dugo polje and at a height of 1184 metres above sea level. Given its surreal natural beauty, Blidinje Lake perfectly complements the landscape of Blidinje Nature Park.
