Did this a few weeks ago based in POTES camping. Me and a friend from
cornwall,UK. We spent 10 days in the picos on dirtbikes camping. Only one word truly expresses the time spent there.AWSOME!! More routs like this please. Many thanks for this one. John

Hola, este verano nos gustaría realizar esta ruta. Necesitamos permisos para pasar?
    Muchas gracias!

We have done this route without a special permit nor permission.
Just take care of closing the gates for the cattle !

So we went to do this route a couple of weeks ago October 2018. The first part of this - where you leave tarmac is very illegal! There are many signs to say you must not use the routes. There are at least three signs on each start of the trail to say you must not use the trails. This route is through a national park and we spoke to a national park worker that said if we were caught we would be fined!!!
My advice - DO NOT USE THIS ROUTE UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE FINED

I do not believe this route goes through a national park.
During our whole tour through spain in 2014 we only entered once a national park and it was with permission.
But things can change in 4 years.

100% goes through a National park. We took photos, happy to send photos of the old no entry signs next to the national park signs!

Can I just say that I was with Paula Beaumont, and it was like she said. The signs were very much in our face, there was no way we could not have seen them. After speaking to the national park worker we called the officials in Santander, there was just no way we were going to get a permit for 4x4 and the fines are huge. A lot can happen in 4 years, at this moment the beginning of the route is illegal for 4x4.

I followed this track until the villafe of rionansa, did not see any signs. We saw just 1 car on the whole way and the track was really clean.

La zona del los Valles Altos todo con señal de prohibido.
Desconozco si se puede pedir permiso, yo he improvisado otro track.
