Greek sailing Odyssey Day 2 Astypálaia - Santorini via Anafi
Sensational day sailing. Lunch time swim at Anafi island and excellent afternoon sailing to Thira (Santorini)

Anafi Scala

Anafi Scala Beautiful location with clearest water anywhere in the islands. Limited tourism and a great place for a lunchtime swim. Fine sand on the bottom, I would imagine average to poor anchor holding in a blow

A truly epic sail, from Astipaliaia, via Anafi, to Santorini (Fira). What a massive day.

The bay on the south side of Anafi, Anafi Scala, is a MUST SEE - perfect sandy beaches, and warm enough for us to swim in total comfort into November. We didn't go to any of the village, only the beach, but ti was perhaps the most fabulous beach we came across.

52 Nautical miles in a day in a Bavaria 40. Not bad

WARNING for SAILORS - Imperative that you have some accurate charts or pilotage book for entrance to Vlichada harbour. There is an ancient sea wall that lies about 1.0m under the surface running due West from the southern most tip of Santorini back towards the harbour at Vlichada. You need to approach the harbour entrance from the SE on a bearing of about 45 degrees, turning due East as you get close to the groyne of rocks that form the outer wall of the harbour.
