Comment : hard to find good hikes in winter as most non-ski areas have steep slopes traversal not fit for snowshoeing, they are great to walk on flat surfaces or going straight up or down not walk at a 45° angle. This is criss-crossing through a ski resort for a good third of the distance we had to ascend a few segments on the side of descending skiers and cross to the other side of ski slopes, not great. Problem is the only alternatives are all in the shade and not that great in this season. This hike to be honest was 3/4 in the cold shade of forests and 1/4 in super sunny open ground. After les Mazots is the good part, very few people on that road mostly ski-tourers as there are no ski-lifts on that side of the mountain. The pointe d'Arpille ascension was rough we were lucky a group of skiiers traced a path for us, in deep snow that would have been extremely difficult on snowhoes. The descent is pretty steep you want to stay as close to the ridge you can, between Pointe d'Arpille and la Tailla the snow was perfect super fun part of the hike. After La Tailla...not so fun in winter 5km of slow descent in the freezing shade. Les Lanches area is a somewhat horizontal T3 trail that had no footprints before us and in the end you go back to the Col de la Croix road so you might be better off taking it right after la Tailla if your goal is to go back to les Diablerets asap the trail we took is more wild especially in winter.
