Itinerary description

Another great hike; started at the Barouk Cedar reserve gate and moved towards the Maaser cedars. We made a stop to see Lamartine's Cedar Tree (a.k.a. The Hermitage) in snowy weather. The trail then went up a steep hill (around 300 meters) to reach the communication antenna at the top of the Barouk mountain. At the top, you get a 360 degrees view of Lebanon; from the east, you get the majestic Bekaa valley with its back to snow-covered Mount Hermon; from the west you get to see the Chouf area all the way to the Mediterranean where you could see ships off the Saida coast; The north view brings snow-covered Sannine mountain; and the south you get Qaroun lake and beyond.
Then we moved back to the man-made pond and back into Barouk.
Weather was pleasant: moderate wind, overcast Sky, and temperature in upper teens.
We came across fellow snow-shoers and city dwellers with their kids playing in the snow.
Worth to spend a day there.
