Itinerary description
This was supposed to be a snowshoeing expedition from Masser Chouf town square to the Lamartine Cedar tree passing by the Maaser Cedar Reserve.
It was the first day after the snow storm hit Lebanon. The snow was white and fresh and deep. The first 3 km+ uphill climb took us much longer than expected and we reached the Maaser Cedar Reserve limit by 2:00 PM. The cedar trees were frozen beautifully giving them a B&W look. After spending a small break there for lunch we turned around the same way and back to our cars.
What was supposed to be a moderate hike, turned out to be a very difficult hike due to deep snow and uphill climbing; but the rewards were worth it. See the pictures.
