Itinerary description
The great thing about snowshoeing is you can go off the trail and the worst thing about snowshoeing is you can go off the trail.
This is the first snowshoeing excursion this season, and despite having done this trail many times, we ventured off the trail and it was a treat. The views were different and breathtaking (typical of Maaser Cedar reserve).
The only creatures that beat us to the trail were the forest dwellers (footsteps of boars, Hyenas, foxes, wolves, etc. were everywhere) and we decided to follow their trail.
The wind was tough but were prepared for it.
One said note: A huge thousand+ year old magnificent tree succumbed to the elements of nature. Wind and heavy snow laid this tree to rest :(.
I will it to the pictures to tell the story.

Lamartine's Cedar Tree
the most famous of the cedar trees in Lebanon. This was the favorite of thee French poet Lamartine. This is the first time I see it completely covered with snow.

The Great Death
I bet it is more than 1000 years. But all good things MUST come to an end. This is the case for this majestic tree; it was no match for the ferocity of nature (wind and snow).
