Frog Lake
RAIL DESCRIPTION: The trail to Frog Lake is part of the Pacific Crest Trail and is an easy 1.2 miles hike to the Lake. The trail to Winnemuca Lake is an additional 1.5 miles up a gradual slope to the lake level at around 8,000 ft.
The trail head for the hike to Frog Lake/Winnemuca Lake is at the top of Carson Pass off of Highway 88.
The hike to Frog Lake follows a moderate up hill course through the Upper Montane zone which is typically found in the Tahoe area from lake level, 6230 ft, to 8,00o ft. The hike to Frog lake meanders through Red Fir forest and Montane Chaparrel until it reaches Frog Lake. The trail then ascends into the Subalpine zone as it reaches Winnemuca Lake.
