Itinerary description

L' Êrigné - Col du Coux, Vallée du la Manche

This trail is suitable for Snowshoeing/Hiking/Ski Touring/Trail Running)

1. Reach L' Êrigné via the Route de La Manche road. Park at the main car park and start walking towards the forest. Follow the trail.
2. The first main highlight would be Lac des Mines d'Or. The place is suitable for a picnic/rest. You can choose to make this hike short and turn back after the lake in case you don't have the energy or time to continue. The Moderate to Difficult part starts after the lake.
3. Next stop with a view down the Vallée du la Manche will be Chalets de Freterolle at 1380m. After this you can either take the valey or the forest up to Col du Coux. I choose the forest.
4. Col Du Coux (1920m) - the ultimate goal of this adventure apart from enjoyment is reached. The views are fantastic. The last 15 min before the Col are steep and very technical in winter. Going down you can choose the open valley or the forest. In winter snowshoeing down both routes, I have marked as Difficult.

Please note: Suitable equipment is necessary for this snowshoe adventure - poles, snowshoes, warm and impermeable clothing, gloves, enough water, sunglasses, suncream, food, headtorch and working phone. If you are ski touring a set of personal rescue equipment – (beacon, shovel, probe) is mandatory.

Always tell somebody where you are going and always check the weather!

Have an enjoyable adventure!
