Itinerary description

This route offers a winter hike through enchanting forests, wonderful panoramic views especially from the Pra Cornet plateau as well as a few encounters with (wooden) goblins ;-)

The route is a combination of two well-marked trails.
It starts as ´Les Mosses–La Lécherette No. 976´ in La Lécherette´s biathlon and cross-country skiing area from where it proceeds via moorland landscape of national importance to Col des Mosses mountain pass. Although it is a winter hiking trail, it can be enjoyed also with snowshoes.
At Col des Mosses, the route continues as a circuit snowshoe trail ´Parcours de Pra Cornet No. 463´.

If under time pressure, it is possible to opt for a shortcut to the Arsaz parking place, resp. to the bus stop ´Les Mosses, Les Charmilles´.

Col des Mosses mountain pass is popular both for summer and winter activities. Besides (winter) hiking, downhill and cross-country skiing, biathlon, etc., ice diving is also possible - in the nearby Lac Lioson lake. As to the Col des Mosses, it is a more or less marshy height which forms the watershed between the river Rhône (which flows into the Mediterranean Sea) and the river Rhine (which flows into the North Sea).
