Itinerary description

Moderate trek through Marathasa side of Troodos. Deviated from trail by going up higher peak before the end of the trail. Some steep bits but view from top was worth it. This trail is definitely best on clear day as you get some great views over Morphou bay to coastal mountains of Turkey.

The trail out to the view point slopes gently down and is skiable as long as the snow line is below 1,700m. Coming back up probably quicker to walk/snowshoe, even with skins.

Signpost - Go to the left (Kakopetria) for main trail

We detoured at the signpost by going to the right along a short ridge that gives some nice views over Morphou bay. Easy 200m detour and worth it on a clear day.

Back on the trail to Kakopetia

The trail is quite broad and easy to follow. Snow on some lower parts of the trail can be washed out by the stream(s) that flow into/on to the trail.

Stream flowing next to trail on the descent

A stream flows next to and in the trail for most of the descent. Even in 1m deep snow lower sections of the stream flow on the surface so could be difficult to cross with Skis.
