Itinerary description
This 3 day hike was part of a hikingadvisor.be learning track to introduce us to snowshoeing, and winter in alpine regions.
First day is a steep but short climb from a bus stop in Mathon to the Friedrichshafener Hütte (check opening hours, or acquire a key to the winterraum). We did some exercises in avalanche rescues there, but feel free to take a local hike.
The second day is a serious trek over the Muttenjoch (check avalanche danger!!!), around a mountain and back up to the Heilbronner hutte (no key needed, but you need to register upfront on their website).
The 3th day we went back down to Partnenen. There are several routes down, just choose a safe one. You'll cross a forest on your way, be sure to not get lost there.
Once in Partenen, you can take a bus to wherever you want (just pretend to have a ski-pass and ride for free)
