Itinerary description
Sannine mountain has the most majestic summits in Lebanon! This time we headed up from Grande Coulée and went back down from Berland.
We started from the bottom of Grande coulée (check starting point) and ended the Snowshoeing part at Sannine fountain at the bottom of Berland route (check Endpoint). If you prefer, you can park at Sannine Fountain and start climbing to reach from there the Grande coulée, and end your trail back directly at Sannine fountain. By doing so you will avoid the last 10min walking on the main road.
This trail is physically demanding (especially the steep ascent at the last part of grande coulée), as well as technically demanding (going down on Berland route). On your way up, use your snowshoes in the uphill mode to make it technically easier. When the snow becomes more fluffy, the downhill mode makes things easier with much better grip. I strongly recommend snowshoes with downhill mode for steep descents (Grande coulée or Berland).
Start early in the morning to be able to be back before sunset. Make sure you are well equipped before you start (no need to mention snowshoes and poles are a must). Always remember not to follow the trail blindly; use your common sense and your hiker skills to find your best way to your destination. And remember: the most paved road is not always the easiest!
Moving time is around 5 hours. This loop is amazing but reserved for the experienced hikers. See you at the Top!
