Itinerary description
The Dunbar Common route in south east Scotland is a mixture of rocky land-rover track over moorland and compacted gravel tracks around a windfarm estate.
I have ridden this route numerous times and only once had someone approach me. It was a sheep farmer who asked me to ride more slowly around his lambs.
Other than that, walkers, cyclists and workers have been friendly with smiles and waves all around.
I did explore a potential water crossing (see burn) but the track was over grown with jaggy gorse bushes. After some strenuous pushing and pulling I was able to turn around and get back on to the main route.
I did have to ride some quiet country roads to connect the dirt tracks but some of these were in such poor condition, the road was like a dirt track.
Sometimes you can see deer, hare and ptarmigan up here but the only thing I saw was some tracks from some other off-road bikes.
