Itinerary description
Opal Mountain is located several miles NorthEast of Searchlight, Nevada on Cottonwood Cove Road. On the weekends and holidays, there is a charge to get into the area where the root of the trail is located.
The trail is located at a low altitude, so the season would dictate a proper time to try to get to this mountain. Although the mountain (hill really) is rather small. Some references indicate that there was once an opal mine in the area, but I did not notice anything resembling a mine. The mine may be there, but you may have to scour around to find it.
