Itinerary description
There are no trail markers or names on any of the map services so I named this one after a large open-pit mine nearby. Besides the first half mile or so that is typical desert hard-pan, this was not a very enjoyable trail. The entire middle portion is a combination of avoiding fist-sized rocks and navigating dished out Jeep tracks filled to the brim with loose sediment. The pictures don't show how tore up this trail really is because the only time I stopped was in one of the few smooth sections. The rest of the time I was concentrating on staying upright. I'm usually not a fan of sand but the bottom section heading to the dry lake was fun.
