Itinerary description

Titus Canyon is a MUST-DO trail. The entrance to Titus canyon is approximately five miles southwest of Beatty, Nevada. It is a one-way road going westerly into Death Valley. The first five miles of the trail is basically a flat and fast desert road. The road then winds up into the mountains for about another 6 miles to an altitude of approximately 5200 ft. In the spring, this area becomes a garden of wildflowers. The road then descends into a canyon of indescribable geologic beauty. There are several abandoned mines in the area, including one ghost town from the very early 1900's.

In the very bottom of the canyon, it is evident that flash floods have warn through the canyon leaving just enough width to allow a car to pass.

Although the road is almost acceptable for passenger cars, I would only recommend 4x4's and motor cycles. Like anywhere in Nevada, if a flash flood had occurred, all bets are off.

The outlet of the canyon opens into Death Valley. It's a lengthy drive back to the starting point. There are no gas stations outside of Beatty.
