Itinerary description
I rode this trail on a dirt-bike and found it to be an enjoyable area to ride. All of the trails are wide enough to be driven by a suitable off-road car.
The first part of the trail is paved road (N108), but it soon turns onto a dirt road, into an area of cultivated eucalyptus trees. The area has several inter-connected trails that could be explored.
The trail turns back south and rejoins the N108 briefly. At this point, you have to cross the N108 to drive east, but there is a sharp bend just past the point of joining the road. Extra care is required due to approaching traffic coming around the bend.
The trail turns right, off the N108 and into another area of eucalyptus trees that extend down to the Douro River. Again, there are several inter-connecting trails in the area, so it would be easy to adjust this route and explore each section.
I followed the tracks that went down to the river (one of them leads to a small pebble beach at the side of the river). Bikes can actually ride onto the small beach, where there is a view across the Douro.
Despite being close to the river, for most of the trail the only view is of the surrounding trees. But when you drive/ride up to the the lookout tower, you are rewarded with a beautiful panoramic view over the Douro.
The trail includes several hills to ascend/descend. At the time of my visit, the surface was very dry and included a lot of loose material (dry sand and small rocks). A couple of areas have some deep ruts, but they are easy to avoid on a bike.
I'd generally rate the trail as easy, but the loose surface on some hills could be rated moderate.

Difficult
Nice ride through the eucalyptus woods, but almost fully technical with little views. I’d scale it up from moderate to difficult to dissuade beginners with heavy motorcycles.
