Got a few questions about this trip...How did u got the motorbike? Did you bought it? rented it? Also still debating if i should do the trip in bicycle...Any recommendations for Java?

indeed i bought the bike in yogya in a kawa shop for 55 mio IDR in may 2009, sold it later on bali. there is a frnch guy offering trips with those bikes: http://archipelago-adventure.com/en/index.html. doing this on a bycicle you'll need of course much more time and you want to choose more smaller roads, like we did from time to time. but if you've enough time this will be an amazing trip. around yogya you just follow your nose and have your gps for finding back home - couldn't be better!

no worries! before I now start to get too much into detail: as a rule of thumb you should try to avoid the main roads, which are always very busy and stuffed with trucks and busses and their enormous output of dirt which makes you look like a coal miner. if you've enough time and a good map, preferably on a gps (there is this free and very detailed map of indonesia on http://navigasi.net/goptd.php), then just go for this zillions of small little roads which will finally lead you there as well but of course some days later. that will make it f***** awesome! the best time we spent on those road, the worst trapped on the main roads. good luck!

Just basically avoid the busy roads at all cost...I noticed that you went up the bike to Bromo...Holy ^*%^%$...that must've been AWESOME....U think in the bicycle i can pull it off? Good day
