Itinerary description
Parking in Lochinver or up the single track Canisp road near Glencanisp lodge where the Suilven car park is. This route going clockwise follows a rough, bouldery 4x4 track gradually uphill, taking a left turn towards Canisp and another to leave the 4x4 track to the Canisp ascent. A short pathless section over Canisp with a descent on its east face to avoid cliffs on the South face, mostly pathless but with some cairns marking the way. A loop around Lochan Fada and back on a faint singletrack path with plenty streams to refill water. Onto the 4x4 track to the junction where you turn left to climb Suilven. Steep ascent up to Suilven requiring minimal scrambling. The descent off Suilven is a mixture of scree sliding and steep rock/grass step hopping down to slightly boggy ground where you turn right to go West and out by the falls of Kirkaig path. Route finding is fairly easy with the gpx and most of the route 80%+ does have a path. Not fast going due to roughness and overgrown sections but a beautiful area. Took about 7 hours to run/jog this with some short breaks.
