Itinerary description

Wonderful trail in the region of Engelberg around the mountains Ruchstock, Spitz Mann and Walenstöck.

The path follows mountain (white - red - white) and alpin (white - blue - white) signs. Few yellow signs.

There were still lots of névé (snow) going up in June, therefore the path is quite risky!!!

The journey starts and ends in Oberrickenbach. Accessible with Post bus or car (there is a parking). From there, take the cable car to Kreuzhütte. If you wish to go up by foot too, it's feasible.

At Kreuhütte, the trail effectively starts. Follows the direction of Rugghubelhütte. There won't be any more yellow signs for a while, follow mountain sign.

Path to Engelberger Rostock is not indicated neither, at least did not find it. When arriving on a ridge after a quite long climb, take left. Note that part can be skipped but the 2.5km and 340m +/- it adds are challenging and worth the effort.

From Engelberger Rostock, go back the same path you used to get there till the previous ridge.

Rest of the trail becomes finally easier to follow. Go to Rugghubelhütte, Brunnihütte, Walenalp and back to Oberrickenbach.

The way down was particularly long for my old knees (-2200m). Because of the snow and signs I had to look for the route and go back and forth few times (gpx track is probably a bit funky). Therefore I was quite slow but what a lovely day ☀️🏔.
