Itinerary description
This route aims to cross the Rigi area from one end to the other. There are no exposed areas and trails are fairly simple.
The section from Schwyz to Gätterli pass is not walked that often and it actually offers quite nice views of Lauerzersee, Zugersee and Wildspitz - Rossberg.
From Scheidegg to Kaltbad it is flat (covered old Rigi railway line). That area is quite "touristy"
From Staffel to Seebodenalp the trail zig zags a bit but fairly runnable.
The stretch from Seebodenalp to Immensee is quite nice. It is mostly covered by trees and quite pleasant on sunny weather. The last 2 kilometres approaching Immensee went through a detour as there were works under way so they do not follow the normal Wanderweg.
The detour to Kulm (and adding another 150 metres of climb) was not done. You may want to add it.
Net Running time was 3h 19 mins. The Schweizmobil recommended hiking time is 9 hrs if you plan a hike.
I think if you want to run it faster it is probably faster from Immensee (in opposite direction) as that side is steeper (difficult to run that fast as you are braking), so a fast hike up to Staffel and then you can run all the rest down to Schwyz. On weekends the train connections in Immensee are a bit spaced out. It may make more sense to start in Immensee as Schwyz tends to have better train connections.
With the Rigi being full of paths you have many alternative routes
