Itinerary description
The waterfall is not that spectacular and can be reached easily by car from the other side, but the route up there, as from this trail, is spectacular.
You pass wetlands, mangrove and forest. Nice views on the Waitangi river and the trail is nicely done.
Careful when you reach the waterfalls: the trees along the river there (you're walking 10m above the river) are nesting trees for the Pied Shag (I think). I felt a bit guilty passing so close.
I took the road to the village to make this a roundtrip, but it's really not that nice so in this case I'd say that it is better to go there and back the same trail instead of the roundtrip.
