Itinerary description
This is section has the first two big hills of the Kokoda Challenge. It follows sealed road for 2km then dirt for 1km then up a short but steep fire trail. The decent down to Moffats crossing (Austinville Rd) is steep and can get extremely slippery and muddy . Continue up Austinville Rd on sealed road and at the end turn right and head up Fairview Mountain, one of the biggest hills of the challenge. At the top the trail follows Mt Nimmel ridge line to many false peaks then descends to Mt Nimmel Rd. The last 5km follows sealed road to Polly's Kitchen.

A wonderful climb, trek and run - scenic, with a couple of good climbs and a great run through bushland.
