Itinerary description
45k trail using some parts of UTSM 2012 and UTSM 2014 courses, departing and arriving at Quinta do Barrieiro.
This course is a moderate one, but be aware of the weather at 1000m before you go ahead. As I personally realized, wind, rain and fog can be a challenge at these points.
At 6.5k, 15.5k, 38.2k, 39.7k I was trying to find a path, so you will see some deviations from the normal course.
There is a 2k road deviation at 28k to specifically pass by a water point (Fonte da Coelha).
Depending on the time of the year you do this course, you might need to take into consideration that the last 10k will be very "dry". I got around 26C temperature, and no wind. There are also no water points after 29k.
If you are passing by São Mamede, Quinta do Barrieiro is a good spot to have a very comfortable room and bed to rest. They work on Self-Catering leaving you all the breakfast in the previous night at an additional fee, and that is great for a runner leaving at sunrise.
