Itinerary description
Perhaps my most exciting run (trail run/hike) to date, using three different "dirt & rocks" mountain bike routes in the NW of the island of Fuerteventura (Canary islands). Started at the edge of the town of Corralejo, headed south towards the fishing village of Majanicho, bordering the coast of the west coast of the island, then went east to the town of Lajares & back north through the picturesque desert badlands ("route of the volcanoes") and home to Corralejo. 3/4 of the route followed dirt roads/basaltic rock paths.. Amazing landscape, esp. from the atop the caldera of the "calderon hondo" volcano but quite tough for someone not used to trail, in the section of the volcanoes (managed to have both calves cramp on the way down from the highest caldera in the route). Would do it again of course ;) "The greatest pleasure in life is doing what people say you cannot do." Bagehot :)
