Itinerary description
The walk down into Broto from Torla is much shorter than the road and doesn't seem to take long at all. Broto is definitely worth a visit for its contrast to Torla. The main reason for us being here though was to enjoy the two Via Ferrata's. The first is a beginners level which starts off with a wire bridge across the river. If you haven't done the wire bridge before It is easier than it looks, just make sure you are wearing a harness though! We went slightly wrong near the end of the beginners route so follow the signs more carefully than we did!
Next for the main event, the medium level via ferrate which starts a bit further upstream (during peak season there's a small charge of a few Euros). There are two slightly tricky sections in my opinion which may challenge people new to this. First as you are traversing across the rock face just before you get to the vertical ladder section finding the right place for your feet and on the vertical ladders half way up. The reward for completing these two bits is simply stunning. You climb into the cave (water running through when we were there) walk through pressing your feet against the side so you don't get too wet) and then pop out above the waterfalls. Then along the side of the gorge, across another short wire bridge and continue up. From the Cave onwards there was nothing tricky. I loved this via Ferrata, so varied, interesting and beautiful.
