Itinerary description
Bocairent is an unimaginably beautifully situated medieval town on the edge of the Sierra de Mariola, an hour away from Gandía and Alicante.
The historic centre is an amzing maze of narrow streets and alleys many of them only connected through stone steps and is also called the Moorish labyrinth.
Apart from the historic quarter there are many other places that are interesting in Bocairent: bridges and aquaducts deep down below the town, Moorish caves, ice caves, a monastery, a bull fight arena and the Ermita de Bocairent situated on a 700 metre-high-hill, adjacent to the town, that you could walk up to.
There are also a number of walks that you could do from the town, like the magic walk, the river walk, the fos ravine route, a visit to Moorish caves, and also a walk called The Source of the Vinalopo river, an 8.7 km circular route.
