Itinerary description

A brief early morning jaunt around the Bukit Pasoh conservation area, fringing the historic parts of Chinatown. Starting down Tajong Pagar road, up to Ann Siang Road and hill park, then round back to Duxton Hill. From there, cross over past Shake Shack (another historic place :-P) to Keong Saik Road. Leaving history behind, a trek up the hitherto unknown Pearl's Hill City Park - be prepared for endless flights of steps and not very much shade there. Then crossing CTE to reach Singapore River and turning downstream to end up at UOB Plaza where all the money lives.

According to Wikipedia, this area was once a "crime-riddled red-light district" in the 1960's, but now has gentrified and hosts bars, bakeries, restaurants and various of the like. Well, the crime is still there, but it's just moved down the road to the investment banks in CBD... *just joking* :-P
