Itinerary description

Teruel is a well preserved historical city in Aragon, located in eastern Spain, and is also the capital of Teruel Province.

The 12th century islamic influenced Mudéjar art in Aragon is ranked as an broad UNESCO World Heritage site. This UNESCO status comprises ten religious and secular sites in the provinces of Teruel and Zaragoza. In the City of Teruel, the designated sites include: the tower, roof, and cimborio of the Cathedral of Santa María de Mediavilla; the tower and church of San Pedro de Teruel; the church tower of San Martín de Teruel; the church tower of Salvador de Teruel.

Plaza del Torico

Central pedestrian-only plaza surrounded by historical architecture, with outdoor dining options and a unique bull-themed central fountain. Photos are in mid-morning on a cold January day. Outdoor tables are being set, mostly on north side, presumably to catch some warmer afternoon sun.

Torre de El Salvador

Moorish influenced historical tower. A very close twin of Torre San Martin farther to the north. Torre San Martin is on the Plaza de Perez Prado, farther north, and is much easier to view than Torre de El Salvador.

This waypoint is on a roadside balcony overlooking the Escalinata del Óvalo, a small park, and the city's Train Station. The Escalinata del Óvalo has Intricate brick construction, and there are interesting ironworks along the balcony. Views of hills to the west.

Located on the Plaza Venerable Francis de Aranda, also signed as Pl. del Obispo. The Cathedral is one of the Teruel sites included in the UNESCO World Heritage designation.
