Itinerary description
Not a particularly large city at 150’000 plus inhabitants, Nîmes is known for its Roman past and well worth a visit. This walk does a good job - compliments to FrankrijkinBeeld.com - at introducing the city. The walk includes the Augustan Gate, the well-preserved Maison Carrée, the Nîmes Colloseum which still serves for concerts etc, the Temple of Diana, and pleasantly winds through the streets of Nimes city centre. On the edge of the city centre you find the Jardins de la Fontaine, which aside side from the Temple of Diana, also house the Tour Magne, the last remainder of the old Roman protective city walls. Enjoy ..
