Situada en la localidad pedánea de Valdecabras (CUENCA), en pleno corazón del Parque Natural de la Serranía de Cuenca y rodeada de inmensos pinares, la Ciudad Encantada es sin duda uno de los parajes más espectaculares de nuestro país, donde podrás conocer y aprender el proceso geológico del karst y admirar sus caprichosas formaciones. Por ello, la Ciudad Encantada fue declarada Sitio Natural de Interés Nacional el 11 de junio de 1929.

Su origen se remonta a hace 90 millones de años, cuando la Ciudad Encantada formaba parte del fondo del mar de Thetis. Se trataba de aguas tranquilas, lo que propició la deposición de sales, en especial carbonato cálcico.

Al final del Cretácico y como consecuencia de la orogenia alpina, el mar se retiró y el lecho marino, compuesto de piedra caliza, emergió a la superficie. Miles de años de acción del agua, del viento y del hielo hacen que hoy podamos contemplar este impresionante fenómeno geológico en el que niños y adultos disfrutarán de un mágico entorno donde dejar correr la imaginación...

Located in the pedestrian village of Valdecabras (CUENCA), in the heart of the Natural Park of the Serrania de Cuenca and surrounded by immense pine forests, Ciudad Encantada is undoubtedly one of the most spectacular places in our country, where you can learn and learn Geological process of karst and admire its capricious formations. Therefore, the Enchanted City was declared Natural Site of National Interest on June 11, 1929.

Its origin goes back to 90 million years ago, when the Enchanted City was part of the sea bottom of Thetis. These were calm waters, which led to the deposition of salts, especially calcium carbonate.

At the end of the Cretaceous and as a consequence of Alpine orogeny, the sea withdrew and the seabed, composed of limestone, surfaced. Thousands of years of action of water, wind and ice make today we can contemplate this impressive geological phenomenon in which children and adults will enjoy a magical environment where to let the imagination run ...
