Itinerary description
A walk to the summit of Carrascar. Mostly on paved road. You start off by the Coll de Rates restaurant which is quite good by the way. The apple strudel’s delicious.
The walk up has tremendous views all the way and close to the top you will reach a forestry commission look out building fro where they scan the region for forest fires etc.
On a clear day you can see the islands of Ibiza and Formentera and you will see down over Benidorm and the Costa Blanca to the south and the whole of the Costa Azahar to the top of the Gulf of Valencia to the north.
The majority of the walk is over paved road (as far as the forestry commission building and after there is a path to take you to the summit

This is a fabulous walk taking approximately 90 minutes each way. The paved surface gives way to uneven ground with a fair incline. We are late 60s and early 70s and had no problems negotiating thus trail apart from occasional pauses to catch our breath. The views from the Coll de rates is fabulous and then on upwards for another 8 minutes approx - to the restaurant- again stunning panoramic views. The restaurant appears to do wholesome home made Spanish food at reasonable prices bearing in mind their prime location
