Itinerary description
Adjacent the town center of Istán is the area of El Coto de Istán.
The area consists of small paths and the old network of Moorish ditches that were used to transport water from the source of the Molinos River and irrigate the orchards that remain below the area.
During our visit there was the wonderful smell of orange blossom throughout with an abundance of citrus fruit on the trees indicating the fertility of the area.
An old tank also stored the town's water supply. The orchards, terraces and forest blend perfectly into the surrounding landscape.
