Desembocadura del Rio Guadalhorce, Short Version
This walk starts at the entrance to the Guadalhorce nature reserve and follows part of the GR 249 towards Peñón de Zapata in Alhaurin de la Torre. The walk follows the perimeter fence of Malaga airport, before crossing a bridge which could have been an abandoned railway line. It’s a bit of a scramble up and down the other side of the bridge. Please note there are no safety hand rails on this bridge. Then you follow a path that is parallel with the river Guadalhorce.
Eventually you will get to the new wooden bridge the Pasarela de Guadalhorce which brings you back into the Guadalmar nature reserve. Here you have the option to explore the reserve by going left at the gate.
Although it is a circular walk unfortunately the Guadalhorce river is mainly hidden by bamboos and trees, so you don’t get to see much of the river.
After the walk I found a nice Chiringuito two minutes away next to the seafront.
