Itinerary description
One of the most popular trails in the natural park. The ease of its route and the beautiful landscape that it crosses make it ideal as a walk for families. The two towns that it unites, Benamahoma and El Bosque, are another added attraction. In both, we can enjoy its streets and mountain villages nestled in a landscape full of nature and with a range of restaurants and accommodation that will allow us to extend the day and encourage us to return.
During the trek, we will be delighted by a forest of poplars, ash trees and elms, where we can see and hear a large number of birds, such as the oriole, in spring and summer; the common blackbird, the gray wagtail, the warbler, the robin or the powerful song of the nightingale throughout the year, and even with luck, a kingfisher.
On the way we will also be able to observe the attempts to take advantage of the watercourse to generate energy: the remains of mills and the old "Eléctrica de la Sierra" power station.
Trout fishing is common and swimming is excellent in its cool waters
Highly recommended is a visit to the Benamahoma Ecomuseum, installed in the old Los Capitalistas or El Nacimiento mill, which still allows you to see part of the mill's machinery that made milling possible in it and in the many mills that existed in the mountains. .
