Estación Cortes a Estación Jimera, Málaga.

Se puede empezar la ruta desde Cortes de la Frontera pero nuestro autobús nos dejo en la carretera A-373 a un kilómetro del pueblo. Tomamos un sendero a la izquierda y pronto estamos andando por una calzada romana en muy buen estado de conservación. Poco después llegamos a la famosa Casa de Piedra. Está apartada de la calzada en un prado pequeño y muy fácil de pasarlo de largo sin darse cuenta. Consiste de una piedra de arenisca grande en la cual está escavado un hueco y hay restos de muros alrededor en la parte exterior. Dicen que los autores fueron unos monjes paleolíticos cristianos y que se trata de una ermita mozárabe clandestina construida entre los siglos VI y VII d.C. durante el dominio musulmán. También dicen que fue usada posteriormente para otras actividades y que durante un periodo funcionaba como lagar y se puede ver donde estaba la prensa y los agujeros que soportaban las tinajas. Para nosotros representaba la joya de la ruta. Después de la visita continuamos hacía abajo hasta llegar a la carretera A-373 otra vez. Seguimos unos 600m para coger una carretera de monte a la izquierda que ha sido nuestra ruta durante 6km. En la Baliza "Puente Via" nos hemos equivocado, hay que pasar por debajo del puente y coger el sendero inmediatamente a la izquerda. Nosotros llegamos por el sendero antiguo hasta encontrar una alambrada que corta el camino. En la Baliza "Sendero Bonito" empezamos un sendero muy agradable que cruzar dos arroyos (sin dificultad en esta ocasión) y nos lleva a Estación de Jimera después de pasar por 3 Puentes de gran tamaño. Una ruta agradable, con vistas de montaña y sin dificultad.

You can start this route from the town of Cortes de la Frontera but on this occasion our bus dropped us off on the A-373 about a kilometre from the town. We took a path on the right hand side of the road to find ourselves walking down a well conserved Roman road. Soon we arrived at the famous Stone House.It is in a field on the side of the road and it would be easy to miss it. It consists of a big Sandstone Rock in which a huge cave has been carved out and around it there are some ancient stone walls. It is said that it was the work of some palaeolithic Christian monks and that is was originally a Mozarab Hermitage constructed between the VI and VII A.D. during the Muslim occupation. It is also said that it was later used for other activities and for a period it housed a wine producing activity and it is even possible to see where the grape press was located and the holes that supported the earthenware vessels. For us this was the jewel of this route and it is well worth a visit. After the visit to the Stone House we continued down until we arrived again at the A-373. We continued for about 600m and then took a mountain road to the left which we followed for 6km. At the Waypoint "Puente Via" we took a wrong path , it is now necessary to go under the bridge and immediately take the path to the left. We in error followed the old path until we found ourselves at a wire fence which blocked the path. At the Waypoint "Sendero Bonito" we entered a very nice pathway which crossed two streams, with no difficulty on this occasion, and lead us to Estacion de Jimera after passing 3 huge bridges. A very nice route, with mountain views, and without any difficulty.
