The Briksdal Glacier is a part, an arm, of the Jostedal Glacier, the largest glacier in Europe and which has also been protected as a national park, the Jostedalsbreen National Park.
To get to the Briksdal Glacier you must travel by car or organized excursion. From the parking, there are two roads, the easy following a path, and another more complicated bordering the river.
The climb is 2.5 kilometers that are traveled in about 40 minutes. It gives great joy when the glacier appears in the distance above the trees and you feel that you are already close.
During the last meters the road continues between the trees until suddenly we find a really nice and crystalline lake formed by the meltwater of the glacier. The Glacier of Briksdal appears grandiose at the bottom of this glacial lake. We are located 346 meters above sea level.
