Statue of San Rafael
This is an important historical monument. So, we can connect this place with the History subject. Once teacher explains the statue of San Rafael, students could search information about it. For example: who was San Rafael, what is the historical value, etc. with the information, we can do a mural in Plastic subject in order to decorate the classroom. In this way, students learn and enjoy at the same time.
The Alcazar of the Christian Kings
In this place, there is a big garden with many orange trees. We can work with the content of Natural Sciences in order to explain what kind of tree is, when we can obtain oranges, what we can do with the oranges, etc. Furthermore, The Alcazar is one of the most representative places in Córdoba. As consequence of that, we can explain who lived there, when was built… so, it is interesting to connect it with History subject too.
Roman Bridge
The Guadalquivir River crosses the Roman Bridge, so it could be interesting to connect the Natural Sciences subject (concretely water’s cycle) with this. There is a water mill at the beginning of the bridge, so we can explain how the water was obtain years ago and how is the technique that we use nowadays. Also, it could be connected with Math’s subject to explain how many amount of water carries the river or how it varies along the year. We cannot forget that Roman Bridge has an important historic value; therefore, it is interesting to connect this place with the History subject too.
San Rafael Triumph of the Bridge Gate
It is in front of the Roman Bridge; we can visit these two important places at the same time. In roman times, the Bridge Gate linked the city of Córdoba with the Roman Bridge. It was declared Historical Heritage of Spain in 1931. Clearly, it will be connected with History subject due that the value of this place. As activity, pupils should search information about San Rafael Triumph of the Bridge Gate previously in their home, and when we are there, in groups, they will explain the information that they have obtained to their partners like they would be teachers. In this way, we work significant learning because we connect what they know with they will learn.
