Itinerary description
Starting beside Llyn Gwynant, a short uphill section leads to a lovely easy walk through woods and farmland. However, passing a farm, the walk changes to an uphill walk, not steep but rocky in places and quite wet in others, and sometimes fairly difficult to follow. On this occasion we didn't actually summit Moel Meirch itself but skirted round the eastern side. The descent along a fence line to meet the old footpath from Roman Bridge to Gwynant is easy to follow, but for the most part is either boggy or rocky, with care needed. However, having walked most of Snowdonia's paths over the years, the views throughout this walk were probably the best I've experienced. Sun, clouds and continuous views of all the main northern peaks were stupendous. The area is little walked and remote, and we didn't see, never mind meet, a single person once we left the Llyn Gwynant shoreline. Highly recommended for the serious walker.
