Itinerary description
Matsikoridon (ματσικόριδον) means daffodil in Greek and you may see fields of daffodils in the right season along this trail.
Nice walk with panoramic views over gorges and sea (including Lara bay) which starts in a picturesque village of Pano Arodes which deserves a separate stroll around. As well there are plenty of vine yards along the trail.
There are actually two trails - A (short linear) and B (long circular). We walked the circular one.
Mind that there is no drinkable water on the way and no fountain despite indications on the map.
There is intersection with Avakas gorge trail, so those who like long hikes may combine the two.
TERRAIN: asphalt and car dusty/gravel roads. Moderate elevation in the 2nd half of the trail.
SEASON: no shade at all. Spring is great with all the blooming and grass. Overall cool season is better.
SIGNS: there are both direction and plant signs but most of them faded. The are a few resting places too, but not all of them in shade.
KIDS: walkable with kids of all ages, even prams are Ok with good amortization. You just need to assess child’s stamina for a 10km walk or alternatively you may walk short A trail
This trail ("B") can be combined with the adjusted one - Avakas Gorge Nature Trail (linear) - https://www.wikiloc.com/hiking-trails/avakas-gorge-nature-trail-100237766. To shorten the distance you may walk half the gorge or less. The whole route will be around 20 kms.
