Norwegian People's Museum - Oslo
The Norwegian People's Museum (Norsk Folkemuseum) is an open-air museum that shows the history and culture of Norway through more than 150 old houses in which traditional articles that offer a trip to the past are exhibited.
The Museum of the Norwegian People is a green paradise that has different areas of buildings dedicated to different times and places in the country.
It is possible to see rural areas with farms that show how life developed in those areas in the past, in addition to showing the evolution that took place in them during the 40s and 50s, when they came to have many amenities.
It is also possible to see an old gas station and pharmacy, fully furnished and decorated houses, or a food store where you can eat or do some shopping of typical products.
In the most modern area of the museum, it is possible to visit an apartment building set in different times that have great details, from the clothes in the closets to the television or radio programs that were broadcast at the time.
Museum employees dress in traditional clothing and it is possible to see domestic animals in some areas, so during the tour, visitors can feel as if they were visiting different parts of Norway at different times in history.
One of the strong points of the museum is a wooden church built in 1200 that was one of the first pieces to be part of the exhibitions, moving to its current location in 1884.
