Itinerary description
This is a well used trail that is in the process of being restored and repaired. Even with this work taking place it is highly recommended. The trail is physically challenging due to is short but steep up and down terrain which travels over 11 peaks. The views are spectacular. The first peak which is Bare Mt. is a great up and back hike for beginners. Sturdy shoes are a must because there are several up hill scrambles be for you reach the Bare Mt. Summit. This is a perfect photo opportunity. If you decide to continue on you will climb Mt. Hitchcock then on to the Seven Sisters. At 2.5 miles trail marks have faded and you can get turned around easily because of the many side trails along the NET. Once you have traveled through the Seven Sisters you will hike the final peak to the Skinner Mt. Summit House. At 2.5 miles the trail markers are not quickly visible many of them have faded. You can continue on the NET or hike to the Halfway House Trail to the gate parking lot. Whether you hike from north to south or south to north there are farm stands within a quarter mile of the trail. Well worth the stop at Barstow’s (S) or Atkins (N) to snack on a homemade treat.
