Parque Botanico El Cerezal, Ojén
This is nice botanical garden on the outskirts of Ojén.
Take the MA 7103 turn off for Ojén. Go down this twist and turning road until you pass the km 3 sign then take the first junction to your right going uphill.
Then pick up the road Paseo del Nacimiento and follow this (narrow) road which eventually becomes a dirt track just before the park.
This lovely woodland has arroyo Almadán running through it, which must be extra nice when the stream is flowing.
At the entrance there are two gates to get into the park. There are numerous signboards explaining the different kinds of flora and trees.
There is a picnic area and also an old wreck at the top end of the park. Also to your right of the wreck going uphill there is a small shrine.
Return back to the start by taking the path on the other side of the arroyo.
It’s a hidden little gem and a nice area for a picnic. I can imagine it being busy at the weekends, and parking will be restricted.
If you are in Ojén it’s well worth checking it out.
There is about 75% shade on this easy route and it is also suitable for dogs.
Pop down into the village afterwards as there are some nice bars in the main square next to the church.
