Plaza Bib-Rambla – Alcazaba y Generalife

This walk starts from the Bib-Rambla Plaza with its many bars and market stalls.
From the Plaza you go around the Cathedral onto Gran Via de Colon, then up to to Plaza Nueva, where opposite you pick up Cuesta Gomeréz. It’s a slight uphill climb until you pass the gate – Puerta de las Granadas and Palacio.

Taking the first path on the left brings you to the tower Torre de la Justicia, which is a shortcut entrance to the Alcazaba.

Once inside it is a well signposted route going to all the towers. (there is one gps glitch caused by going through the towers, so please ignore that bit).
Leaving the Alcazaba section you pass the Carlos V palace and the church of Santa Maria, Arab Baths, making your way to the Generalife entrance. Here you pass the open air theatre, the lower gardens, then into the patio de la Acequia and through the Sala Regio. You then go through the Patio de la Saltana, then up the Escalera del Agua to the Mirador, then along the paseo de las Adelfas, eventually coming out of the grounds where there are two restaurants – Jardines Alberto and La Mimbre (touristy prices).

From here you go through two arches and take the downhill path Cuesta del Rey Chico. Then you turn left onto Paseo de los Tristes following the river Darro back to Plaza Nueva,
(we stopped to eat at the restaurant Minotauro, where you get a free tapas with your Alhambra beer. The food was good and the prices were reasonable)
Turning right to the Barrio de San Jerónimo where the Colegiata de los Santo Justos y Pastor is. Make your way to Plaza Trinidad, before finishing back at Plaza la Bib-Rambla.

This was an amazing way to experience Granada.
I will definitely come again to explore some more in the future.
There were great views from the Alambra, especially the snow capped Sierra Nevada

Please note before starting this walk you need to purchase a ticket for the Alcazaba and Generalife gardens. I did it online and it costs 10 euros. You can also book the tickets at any BBVA bank. If you also want to see the palaces, you should book a few weeks in advance.
Also note when you have your ticket printed or downloaded on your phone you will still need your passport or ID card to get in.
