Itinerary description
While staying at Cusco, getting used to the altitude, we made a hike around the city, visiting the main archaeological sites one can find here.
The trail starts with a hard climb from San Blas to Sacsaywaman, entering the site through the secondary entrance gate. Don't forget to have some fun at the Rodadero natural slide. After the visit, we carried on to Qenqo Chico and Qenqo, and then to the Temple of the Moon.
From here, we take this fantastic old inca road passing near the Temple of the Apes, a mandatory visit, and the, heading back to San Blas, in Cusco.
It's a very beautiful path, with a hard starting climb but easy to follow and very safe. It's a good training if you're going to follow the Inca Trail.
If one is lost we can always ask the locals for directions. We recommend bringing a hat and some water. There are snacks available at Sacsaywaman but nowhere else.
